Postcards from Muskoka Block 6, Cedar Canoe
Block 6, Cedar Canoe (available at Country Concessions in Cookstown)
There are many famous (and not so famous) paintings and pictures of canoes in the water. A beached canoe can tell so many stories about exploring our amazing lake and river systems. Home after a day out paddling, ready to head out exploring or just taking a land break to check out a really neat island? Hopefully not waiting to be hauled out on a portage! It was always a great argument starter about whether your canoe was a cedar strip, cedar, fibreglass (and now Kevlar) or heaven forbid, aluminum, canoe and which was the better one. Me, I always figured if it got you out there, that was good (though those Langfords sure are pretty and nice to paddle).
I think this block needs to become something bigger all on its own, working on it!
This is my absolute favourite of all the blocks you created. It’s gorgeous and it brings back such fond childhood memories. I plan on making the 3 hour drive to Muskoka next weekend just to do the shop hop and get a chance to make such a beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent with all of us.
Rachel, looking forward to meeting you!I will be posting my detailed itinerary for the hop this weekend. I’m so glad you enjoyed the design-it was a lot of fun to make!
